Adobe Launches Plugin for ChatGPT, Unlocking 70 Creative Tools

Adobe has introduced a new plugin for OpenAI's ChatGPT, granting users access to an impressive array of over 70 creative tools from its popular applications, including Photoshop, Acrobat, Firefly, Illustrator, and InDesign.

Previously, ChatGPT users could generate graphics and images through text prompts. Now, with Adobe's comprehensive plugin, a wider range of functionalities is available. Users can create formatted PDF files based on uploaded data and tables, as well as unify the style of various images, which is particularly useful for marketing campaigns, as detailed in Adobe's blog.

Utilizing Adobe Features Within ChatGPT

The plugin also enables users to prepare long videos for social media platforms. The optimized content can then be shared on platforms like Instagram (Reels) and YouTube (Shorts). Similar to Canva, Adobe offers pre-made design templates for editing and sharing through ChatGPT.

According to Forest Key, the head of Adobe Firefly and Agentic AI, the integration of Adobe tools with ChatGPT can lead to "unpredictable, wonderful, magical" outcomes. ChatGPT intelligently selects the appropriate tool from the extensive library based on the user's request and their past interactions.

Key describes OpenAI's language model as a sort of interpreter that communicates with Adobe's backend, emphasizing that its interpretation of commands can vary based on individual user nuances and experiences.

A Complementary Tool, Not a Replacement

Importantly, this new plugin is designed to complement, rather than replace, Adobe's core applications. It aims to facilitate quick adjustments for users in professional, academic, or school settings. For more complex tasks, users are encouraged to continue utilizing the desktop applications.

Adobe also allows users to transfer projects initiated in ChatGPT to the full applications, such as Photoshop or InDesign, for further editing. Those with an Adobe account and relevant subscriptions will not only have access to the complete range of features but also benefit from Adobe's cloud storage.

Getting Started with the Adobe Plugin in ChatGPT

To try out the new Adobe plugin, users need to activate it in ChatGPT under the Plugins section and sign in to Adobe. Guest accounts are also permitted, though they come with limited functionality. To utilize any editing feature, users simply need to enter "@Adobe" in the chat window followed by their specific prompt.
