The ongoing chip crisis is hitting manufacturers of affordable hardware particularly hard. The Nothing subsidiary brand CMF recently decided not to release a successor to the CMF Phone 2 Pro. According to co-founder Akis Evangelidis on X, they cannot produce a smartphone that feels like a real advancement at a price that makes sense for CMF given the current memory prices.

This is frustrating for buyers looking for an affordable smartphone or a new laptop, as this category is also affected by the crisis. Therefore, it might be worth checking out Prime Day. After all, Amazon has reduced prices on many products, including those from Samsung, such as smartphones and laptops.

Samsung Galaxy A36 5G on Prime Day

Samsung's Galaxy A series is essentially the budget version of the expensive Galaxy S devices. There are differences in performance, but also in software. Fewer AI services are included. The smartphone's slower performance was already evident during setup at MWC 2025. Thus, it is less suitable for power users and more for those who want to stay in touch via WhatsApp. Although the A36 is already a year old, buyers still benefit from a long update period. Five years of updates are still available. Amazon is selling the 256GB version for 259 euros, which is currently the best price online.

Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge in Two Variants

In addition, Samsung currently offers two laptops with Snapdragon processors. The focus here is on long battery life and AI applications. The Galaxy Book 4 Edge with a 15.6-inch display, Snapdragon X Plus chip, and 512GB storage is available for 549 euros, while the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge with a 16-inch display, Snapdragon X Elite Pro processor, and 1TB storage is priced at 929 euros.

According to comparison platforms, Amazon currently offers the best price for both devices. However, it might be worth waiting a bit longer to purchase the cheaper device, as it has been available for 499 euros for extended periods. The more expensive device, on the other hand, is currently at its best price in recent months.

A Convertible and a Pro Device from Samsung

Looking for more power? Then check out the Samsung Galaxy Book 6 with a 16-inch display, 32GB RAM, and "Intel Core Ultra 355" CPU. It is classified as a so-called Copilot Plus PC. Here, too, the focus is on AI applications. Computers labeled as such offer access to more features than laptops without the sticker. Amazon is asking for 1,549 euros for this device. According to price comparisons, the device has been somewhat cheaper in the past, but currently, this is the best available price.

Additionally, Amazon has the Galaxy Book 5 Pro convertible on offer for 1,179 euros, which is a laptop where the display can be flipped to the back. Theoretically, it can be used like a tablet, but practically, the keys on the back and the immense weight compared to regular tablets can be a hindrance. Inside, it features an Intel Core i7 Ultra, along with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. However, it might also be worth waiting, as the price has slightly dropped for Prime Day. In the past, the device was often available at a significantly lower price.
